Poo Bear, Justin Bieber Tap YouTube Star Hannah Stocking For Latest Lyric Video
April 12, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

After appearing in a Rudy Mancuso sketch last week, pop megastar Justin Bieber is once again collaborating with digital creators in the Shots Studios family. Writer/performer Poo Bear and Bieber - who is an investor in the photo app-turned-digital studio - have tapped Shots creator Hannah Stocking to star in the lyric video for their new single, "Hard 2 Face Reality," which also features the rapper Jay Electronica.

"Hard 2 Face Reality" hails from Poo Bear's forthcoming debut album, Bearthday Music. The multi-hyphenate, né Jason Boyd, is best known for penning the Bieber smashes "Where Are Ü Now" and "What Do You Mean?," and also guested on Mancuso's debut single, "Black & White." In the lyric video for "Hard 2 Face Reality," Stocking is cheated on by her boyfriend, comforted by two of her friends (played by fellow digital luminaries and Shots creators Lele Pons and Inanna Sarkis), and then finds new love. Fueled by a combination of digital and traditional star power, the one-week-old clip (below) has already amassed 11 million views.

Justin Bieber Guest Stars In Rudy Mancuso's 'Racist Superman' Comedy Sketch
April 04, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

Justin Bieber has a long history on YouTube, but as far as we know, The Biebs has never appeared in a comedy sketch on the video site - until now. The pop star, who hails from London, Ontario, portrays a Canadian version of Superman in Rudy Mancuso's latest video.

The video, titled 'Racist Superman,' chronicles a meeting of several different supermen in a diner. The heroes, who all hail from different ethnic backgrounds, agree that there can only be one Superman, so they argue over who deserves that honor. In addition to Bieber, who imagines a north-of-the-border version of the DC Comics favorite, the video also features creators like King Bach, Alesso, and Anwar Jibawi, all of whom are partnered with Shots Studios.

March 02, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

YouTube multi-hyphenate Rudy Mancuso dropped his debut single, "Black & White," in October - complete with a visually arresting music video that has amassed 7.3 million views.

For his second official single, "Magic," Mancuso is teaming up with his girlfriend, actress Maia Mitchell of The Fosters fame. Mancuso and Mitchell have collaborated on several covers and sketches for his channel before, though a December single called "Sirens" was removed following accusations that the duo had plagiarized a song by rock band Eisley. A member of the band noted on Instagram, however, that it had okayed Mancuso and Mitchell to use the track.

Latin Music Is Soaring To Unprecedented Heights On YouTube Right Now
November 17, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

As evidenced by the record-shattering success of 'Despacito' - which became the first video on YouTube to surpass 4 billion views in just 272 days - Latin music is currently having an explosive moment on the world's largest video platform.

'Despacito' was first released by Puerto Rican artists Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee in Januray - whereupon the Spanish-language earworm experienced a whole new wave of popularity thanks to a remix with Justin Bieber in April. Other collaborations between Latin artists and English-language popstars have seen similar trajectories, notes Forbes, including the Colombian singer J Balvin and French DJ Willy William's 'Mi Gente', which clocked 1 billion views in only 102 days. 'Mi Gente' is the fourth fastest video in YouTube history to hit 1 billion views, and a subsequent remix with Beyonce turned the song into an even bigger smash.

'Despacito' Rapidly On Track To Surpass 'See You Again' As Most-Viewed YouTube Video Ever
July 19, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

A little more than a week after the Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth anthem See You Again supplanted K-Pop star Psy's five-year record for the most-viewed YouTube video of all time, it looks like a new contender is poised to assume the throne. Despacito, the megahit Spanish song by Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee (Despacito means slowly in English), has already become the most-streamed song ever across all digital platforms in just six month - with 4.6 billion total plays.

And soon, Despacito is set to overtake both See You Again and Gangnam Style on YouTube, reports Digital Music News. While two-year-old See You Again, a tribute to the late actor Paul Walker, counts 2.93 billion views, five-year-old Gangnam Style counts 2.91 billion views. Despacito, at just six months old, has already clocked 2.67 billion views and counting. No YouTube video has hit 3 billion views as of yet, though Despacito is the fastest to have surpassed 2 billion views - in just 154 days.

Ryan Seacrest To Executive Produce Cover Song Competition On YouTube With Ludacris As Host
April 26, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

YouTube, Ryan Seacrest's production studios, and Endemol Shine North America are searching the Best Cover Ever. That's the title of a new competition series, hosted by Ludacris, that will spotlight up-and-coming musicians when it premieres later this year.

Best Cover Ever, as first discussed by The Hollywood Reporter, will nod to YouTube's sizable community of cover artists, many of whom have gone on to become mainstream music stars. The most notable name among that group is Justin Bieber, who went from belting out Ne-Yo songs on his kidrauhl channel to selling tens of millions of records.

"YouTube is the best place for emerging musicians to be discovered, and Best Cover Ever will encourage these artists to go for their dreams alongside the best in the business," said YouTube global head of original content Susanne Daniels. "We're thrilled that Ryan Seacrest will give new talent the opportunity to shine in front of over one billion fans around the world."

Musicians who wish to be featured on the upcoming program can enter it by covering specific songs and uploading those covers to YouTube. Up first are tracks by The Backstreet Boys, Demi Lovato, and Jason Derulo, and more hitmakers will add their work to the Best Cover Ever pool later on.
