Snapchat Lays Off Roughly 100 Staffers For The Second Time This Month
March 29, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

The layoffs keep coming at Snapchat's parent company - this time within its advertising division.

Previous cuts have taken place in Snap's engineering and content divisions, though the latest round could be the company's last - for now, according to Bloomberg, as the final step in a previously announced restructuring process. Earlier this month, Snap laid off 120 engineers. Then, in January, the company cut 24 content-focused staffers. On top of these layoffs, Snap also saw the departure of its VP of product, Tom Conrad - who has long been a top deputy of CEO Evan Spiegel - in January. As of last December, Snap said it had about 3,000 total staffers - meaning that the 244 cuts have since depleted roughly 8% of its workforce.

Chrissy Teigen Becomes Third Major Celeb To Proclaim Snapchat Defection
March 26, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

Chrissy Teigen has become the third celebrity in roughly a month to publicly proclaim her disdain for Snapchat. Following complaints by both Kylie Jenner and Rihanna that caused the company's stock to plummet, the string of criticism illustrates the massive role creators play with respect to any platform's success.

Teigen cited Snapchat's much-despised app redesign as well as an ad that appeared to make light of domestic violence as her reasons for departing. "I stopped using Snap," she tweeted over the weekend. "The update, the constant complaints of people not being able to find me, plus the Rihanna poll...no bueno."

Teigen is a model, cookbook author, and host who is also wildly popular on social media for her hot takes and quick wit with respect to the issues of the day. She counts 10 million followers on Twitter and 16.5 million followers on Instagram.

Rihanna Rebukes Snapchat For Ad Appearing To Make Light Of Domestic Violence
March 15, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

Following Kylie Jenner's stock-plummeting admission that she no longer uses Snapchat in the wake of its widely loathed redesign, yet another major celebrity has come out swinging against the app.

This time, Rihanna is denouncing Snapchat for an ad that appeared to make light of domestic violence. The ad, for a mobile game called Would You Rather?, features pictures of Rihanna and her ex-boyfriend - and assailant - Chris Brown, asking viewers whether they would rather slap Rihanna or punch Brown. Twitter user Royce Mann shared the ad on social media (below), which was subsequently condemned by the activist Brittany Packnett and even Chelsea Clinton.
