Instagram Announces IGTV, An Entertainment Hub With Hour-Long Videos And Content From Social Stars
June 20, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

After weeks of persistent rumors, Instagram has officially announced a long-form video platform. The entertainment hub, titled IGTV, will allow its users to upload videos up to one hour long and will feature content from some of the social media industry's top stars.

IGTV will be available both on the main Instagram app (which, according to a blog post from the company, now reaches more than a billion accounts) and on an app of its own. As with Snapchat's Discover hub, IGTV videos will be vertical and will be separated across multiple channels, which can be browsed individually or happened upon via a smattering of content discovery tools.

So what will viewers be able to find on IGTV? According to an introductory blog post, the answer to that question will involve some of the biggest names in online video. The post mentioned LaurDIY and King Bach as two of the creators who will launch shows on the new platform. At an Instagram event, social media sensation Lele Pons revealed that she too will bring her talents (and some of her favorite recipes) to IGTV.

Poo Bear, Justin Bieber Tap YouTube Star Hannah Stocking For Latest Lyric Video
April 12, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

After appearing in a Rudy Mancuso sketch last week, pop megastar Justin Bieber is once again collaborating with digital creators in the Shots Studios family. Writer/performer Poo Bear and Bieber - who is an investor in the photo app-turned-digital studio - have tapped Shots creator Hannah Stocking to star in the lyric video for their new single, "Hard 2 Face Reality," which also features the rapper Jay Electronica.

"Hard 2 Face Reality" hails from Poo Bear's forthcoming debut album, Bearthday Music. The multi-hyphenate, né Jason Boyd, is best known for penning the Bieber smashes "Where Are Ü Now" and "What Do You Mean?," and also guested on Mancuso's debut single, "Black & White." In the lyric video for "Hard 2 Face Reality," Stocking is cheated on by her boyfriend, comforted by two of her friends (played by fellow digital luminaries and Shots creators Lele Pons and Inanna Sarkis), and then finds new love. Fueled by a combination of digital and traditional star power, the one-week-old clip (below) has already amassed 11 million views.

Lele Pons, Instagram's Most-Watched Stories Creator Of 2017, Signs With WME
December 13, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

Lele Pons is having a moment.

After being featured prominently in YouTube's most recent Rewind video and also being named by Instagram as the most-watched Stories producer of 2017, the 21-year-old Venezuela-born social media starlet has signed with talent agency WME for representation in all areas. WME notes that Pons' fluency in Spanish, English, and Italian makes her an especially global star.

Pons, who counts 20.5 million Instagram followers and 6.3 million YouTube subscribers, initially rocketed to fame on Vine for her raucous comedy videos. More recently, however, she has been taking on projects in the music space - including co-starring in a high-profile Camila Cabello music video and posting choreography videos on Instagram - and will likely release a single of her own sometime soon. Pons was named a brand ambassador for CoverGirl in February, and has also used her platform to raise money for charity amid natural disasters in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Snapchat Stories Usage Among Top Influencers Has Dipped 33% In 6 Months (Study)
October 12, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

Snapchat is drastically losing favor among social influencers, according to a new study by social marketing company Mediakix, which found that Stories usage was down 33% over the course of a six-month period ended last August.

Accordingly, influencers are now posting Instagram Stories twice as often as Snapchat Stories, reports Mediakix, which brokers deals with many top influencers and says it has noticed a decline in Snapchat inquiries.

The study examined the number of Stories posted to Snapchat and Instagram by 12 influencers over the course of a 30-day period in August. The creators surveyed included: Alexis Ren, Alex Lange, Amanda Cerny, Arielle Vandenberg, Curtis Lepore, the Eh Bee Family, Hannah Stocking, King Bach, Lele Pons, Logan Paul, Matt Cutshall (pictured above), and Shay Mitchell. It then compared findings to comparable figures gathered from the same creators six months prior.

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki Launches New Channel With Influencer-Packed Intro Video
September 28, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

YouTube's CEO has launched her very own channel on the site over which she presides.

While Wojcicki, 49, looks to have had a YouTube channel before, it has since been wiped clean and currently houses just one video, aptly titled My First Video - Advice From Creators. Wojcicki hardly appears in the clip, which is instead packed with cameos from top YouTube stars like Dan & Phil, Bethany Mota, The Dolan Twins, the Eh Bee Family, Lele Pons, Rhett & Link, The Rock, and many more. To date, the video has clocked nearly 52,000 views - though it counts more than twice as many 'dislikes' (8,000) as 'likes' (3,000).

Some of the advice that the above creators had to offer about launching a new YouTube channel includes: be authentic, practice and rehearse dutifully, strive for fastidious editing, ignore negative comments, showcase pets whenever possible, and consistency is key.
