YouTube Showed Porn Ads Before Videos From Top Creators
April 11, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

If you were watching Pewdiepie or Dude Perfect's videos yesterday, you may have seen an ad for an adult cam model website.

An video advertisement featuring a woman gyrating that included a link in the bottom left corner with a thumbnail of two people having sex has been appearing before these channels' and other popular YouTube videos, as Motherboard first reported. For example, it played before this Dude Perfect video yesterday, which has over 9.7 million views.

The advertisement links to a CamSoda-branded webcam model site, according to Motherboard. Side note-CamSoda actually has its own YouTube channel featuring PG-13 videos starring cam models, with over 17,000 subscribers. (The ads do not play before CamSoda's videos.)

Twitter users have noticed the pornography ads on YouTube and pointed them out to the video platform. For the most part, the ad's viewers do not approve. Here's a collection of their reactions Twitter.

While other members of the digital gaming community court controversy, Mark 'Markiplier' Fischbach is continuing his charitable streak - and stripping down in the process.

The YouTube star announced today Markiplier's Tasteful Nudes Calendar - making good on his promise during a live stream last year that he would release "tasteful" naked photos when he surpassed 20 million subscribers. After crossing the milestone this morning, Fischbach unveiled the $30 calendar, which he says is "similar to the ESPN Body Issue," with strategically placed foliage, frisbees, and more.

Maker's Jacksepticeye, Strawburry17 To Create Exclusive Twitch Content As Part Of New Disney Deal
January 18, 2018  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

Twitch has forged a multi-year deal with the recently-formed Disney Digital Network whereby four top gaming stars within the Maker Studios creator network - including Jacksepticeye, Markiplier, LuzuGames, and Strawburry17 - will furnish exclusive live and VOD content for the social video service.

The partnership will call for each of the creators to manage their own Twitch channel - though several were already active on the platform before the deal. Exclusive content will begin rolling out today - representing something of a coup for Twitch given that the quartet counts a combined 47 million YouTube subscribers. Twitch also said it will harness feedback from Sean McLoughlin, Mark Fischbach, Luzu Vazquez, and Meghan Camarena to evolve its approach to monetization, moderation, and more, according to content SVP Michael Aragon.

Digital Creators Rally Against Repeal Of Net Neutrality
December 14, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

While a variety of opinions about a whole host of issues abound on YouTube, one thing that the creator community seems to agree on is that net neutrality is a good thing.

And today, creators decried a vote by the Federal Communications Commission under President Trump appointee Ajit Pai (pictured above) to abolish President Obama-era net neutrality regulations. The principle formerly served to ensure that internet service providers would not have the ability to block any content or throttle specific sites. (Given that platforms like Netflix, YouTube, and Twitch account for lots of web traffic, for instance, the fear among net neutrality advocates is that providers may end up charging consumers more money to utilize these services).

November 29, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

'Let's Play' gaming creator Mark 'Markiplier' Fischbach has consistently used his platform as a means of raising gobs of money for charity.

Fischbach billed the event as "bigger than anything we've ever done before," and he wasn't lying: throughout the course of several streams of tabletop games like Jenga and Cards Against Humanity on Saturday, fans blew past an initial $200,000 fundraising goal, and so Fischbach doubled that sum for a total tally of $422,000.

Top 100 Most Viewed YouTube Gaming Channels Worldwide : March 2017
April 25, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

It's time for another monthly installment of our Tubefilter Top 100 Most Viewed YouTube Gaming Channels Chart and a U.S. gamer is still in the top spot.

Chart Toppers

PopularMMOs is sitting on top of the Gaming Channels Chart for the second month in a row. The US-based gamer finished out the 31 days of March down 7% in views at more than 248.6 million. Up one spot to third place is TheDiamondMinecart. The gaming creator at the forefront of StyleHaul's male-oriented Hauk initiative hopped up 1% to top out at over 241.5 million views.

In the #3 spot is JuegaGerman. The gaming channel of the world-famous Chilean vlogger Germán Garmendia shot up 62% in views to score just shy of 229.3 million views in the 31 days of March. Next up in fourth place is Fernanfloo. The other South American gamer towards the top of the chart jumped up 10% in views to close out the week with more than 197.2 million of them.

And rounding out the Top 5 is Markiplier. The other US gamer in the upper echelons of the list stayed relatively constant in his monthly view count with just more than 196.6 million views on the month.

Top Gainers

The honor of one of our Top Gainers this month goes to JuegaGerman.

The aforementioned gaming channel of Germán Garmendia (whose main channel - HolaSoyGerman is now kinda defunct but still the second-most subscribed on YouTube behind PewDiePie) always does well on YouTube thanks to a several-times-a-week supply of Let's Play uploads peppered with more personal vlog updates. March was a particularly good month, however, because of a few standout hits and a plea to his audience not to take his gaming abilities so seriously (at least I think that's what he said - my Spanish is rusty). This Minecraft video, for instance, racked up more than 8.7 million views, helping the channel to a 62% month-over-month increase in views, nearly 229.3 million views on the month, and the #3 spot on the worldwide gaming chart.

Top 100 Most Viewed YouTube Channels Worldwide : March 2017
April 13, 2017  |  Tubefilter  |  See recent Tubefilter news »

It's another installment of the Top 100 Most Viewed YouTube Channels Worldwide and the world still watches a LOT of Indian programming.

Chart Toppers

T-Series held onto its first-place position on the most-viewed YouTube channels chart for the seventh month in a row. The YouTube home for the self-proclaimed "largest music label and movie studio" in India becomes one of the only channels in recent memory to amass over a billion views in a month. The YouTube powerhouse ended the 31 days of March with almost 1.18 billion views. Not too far behind is Ed Sheeran. The online video destinatiointernational pop star who calls the UK home is only the second channel in recent memory to hit 10-digit views in a month's timeframe. Sheeran's all-at-once upload strategy of 14 tracks from his third and latest studio album and other relatively new massive hits (like the Lyric and Official Music Videos of his popular track "Shape of You") helped his channel to almost 1.04 billion views in the month.

In an now-distant third place is Ryan ToysReview. The aging toddler's repository of playtime footage and unboxing videos jumped up a modest 6% to top out at more than 760.5 million views throughout the month. Not too far behind in the #4 spot is WorkpointOfficial. The Thai media company's outpost on the world's largest video-sharing site shot up 58% in its monthly view count to top out at almost 721.5 million views on the month.

And rounding out the Top 5 is Canal KondZilla. Your online video destination for all the latest Brazilian pop music hits jumped up 15% to end the month with almost 698.6 million views.

Top Gainers

The honor of one of our our Top Gainers this month goes Lego.

The company behind the ubiquitous plastic construction toys near and dear to the hearts and minds of millions of children and adults around the globe had a great month on YouTube. Lego's channel always does relatively well in terms of views thanks to a prolific output of live-action building videos and animated shorts in a multitude of languages. March was a particularly good month, however, due to a handful of standout hits. Uploads like this Beauty and Beast retelling with Lego figures, this original Brick Boss series, and this Lego Minecraft adventure all scored view counts in the multi-millions, pushing the Lego channel up to a 270% month-over-month increase in views, nearly 593.2 million views on the month, and the #7 spot on the worldwide chart.
